Trish Powell

My family moved to Burlington from Oakville in 2004 and we have lived in Ward 6 ever since.

My husband Chris and I have been an active part of our community since then, including owning and operating our businesses here. We have 4 sons, ages 15 to 25 who have attended elementary and secondary school within HCDSB.  I’ve been involved in my children’s schools, beginning when they attended elementary school at St. Gabriel’s, and I continue to be involved at the high school level, most recently as Chair of Catholic School Council at Corpus Christi.

I have been a strong advocate for children with special needs for over 10 years, as two of my sons are neuro-diverse. While grateful for the care and accommodations that my sons received within the HCDSB, I want to ensure every child has their own unique needs met regardless of disability, race, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status.

With a business education, a media background and an active volunteer within the community, I come to the school board table with a fresh set of eyes, strong leadership skills and get-the-job-done personality. Combined with many years of building stakeholder relationships within the Halton community, I am not afraid to ask questions and I value accountability and transparency. My unique and multifaceted perspective provides a solid foundation for the Trustee position and I look forward to serving my ward, my city and the HCDSB community for the next 4 years.
