At HCDSB and within our Catholic schools, there are a number of ways that parents can get involved. We know that children do best at school when their parents are engaged in their education, and so we encourage parents and guardians to explore the various ways below that they can become more involved in their child鈥檚 learning and in the life of the school.
Catholic School Councils
Catholic school councils are bodies of elected and appointed representatives of the local school community established to develop, encourage, and promote activities that enhance the quality of school programs and improve levels of student achievement.
One of the best ways to get involved in your child’s learning and the life of the school is by joining your Catholic School Council.
Catholic Parent Involvement
The Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC) is a group of parents, trustees and 91pro视频 staff who actively support parent engagement and involvement throughout HCDSB.
CPIC provides an opportunity for Catholic School Council members to network, offer input and facilitate informative presentations on a number of education related topics throughout the school year.
Special Education Committee
The Special Education Advisory Committee鈥檚 (SEAC) mandate is to make recommendations to HCDSB in matters affecting the establishment and development of Special Education programs and services for students with exceptional needs.
Parents that serve on SEAC come from local associations that promote the interests and well-being of students with exceptional needs and abilities.
Volunteer in HCDSB Schools
Parent volunteers are valued members of our HCDSB community that help to foster positive relationships and contribute to the success of our children and school communities as a whole. For more information, read Policy II-37 Volunteers in Catholic Schools.
Parents and guardians who are interested in getting involved are encouraged to reach out to their school Principal for more information about volunteer opportunities available at their school.
