History of Our 91proÊÓƵ
The 91proÊÓƵ has a rich history that stretches back to 1856, beginning with the establishment of St. Mary’s School, the first Catholic elementary school in Oakville. Originally four separate school boards serving Burlington, Oakville, Georgetown, and Milton, the boards were unified in 1969, forming a single regional body committed to supporting Catholic education. This amalgamation fostered significant developments, including the establishment of special education programs and the expansion into secondary education.
The 91proÊÓƵ’s journey is marked by milestones, such as the establishment of French language schools in 1986, the opening of multiple secondary schools, and continuous growth to meet the needs of its diverse community. In 2019, HCDSB celebrated its 50th anniversary with special commemorations, symbolized by a unique emblem that reflects faith and unity across the four municipalities it serves. The HCDSB story is one of enduring faith, community commitment, and a dedication to educational excellence for all students.
