In our ongoing efforts to promote safe, inclusive, and accepting schools, and in accordance with the Ministry of Education requirement, the 91proÊÓƵ (HCDSB) implements a School Climate Survey.
School Climate Surveys are conducted every two years to gather information from students, parents/guardians, and staff to help HCDSB create and sustain safe and welcoming schools.
The survey provides feedback to each school about the extent to which students, parents and school staff feel their school supports learning and positive behaviour, and promotes a safe and inclusive environment.
The School Climate Survey includes questions that focus on community (e.g., quality of relationships, school-parish connection), safety (e.g., bullying), academics (e.g., school engagement), health and well-being (e.g., feeling happy – all grades), risky behaviours including drug and alcohol use (for grade 7-12 students only), self-esteem (for grade 7-12 students only), and demographics (e.g., gender identity, race, etc.). Demographic items plus the other items about community, safety, academics, institutional environment, and health and well-being together allow school planning teams to better understand the perceptions of various identities in our school environment. Â
